Die at the age of 24, Amidamaru was the great samurai from 600 years ago. Because of his sword skill, he was known as the ogre. However, after Yoh helped him, he decided to pledge his loyalty to Yoh.

Birthday: September 5th, 1985
Blood Type: O
Manta is Yoh's best friend. Even though he has an ability to see ghost, he doesn't have any shaman power. However, he has a lot of knowledge and he is the heir of one of the biggest electric companies in the world.

Yoh Asakura might look like a layback Junior High School kid. However, he is a shaman with a special ability to communicate with all the souls and spirits and possess them into his body! Yoh came to Funbari, Tokyo to make friends with all of the powerful ghosts and to become the best Shaman ever.

While helping solving the mystery around Funbari district with his human friend, Manta Oyamada, Yoh met the samurai spirits from 600 years ago named Amidamaru. Amidamaru was known as the evil while he lived, but actually Amidamaru was a kind and good person. After Yoh helped him, Amidamaru has pledged his loyalty to serve Yoh. One day, Ren Tao, a boy with the shaman ability same as Yoh, came to Funbari. Ren noticed Amidamaru's spirit was very powerful, so he determined to get Amidamaru from Yoh by challenge him into the fight.

Ren has brought the soul of the Chinese warrior, Bason, with him. After the long battle, Yoh was finally able to defeat Ren. However, Yoh was extremely exhausted because he used all of his shaman power.

Manta brought Yoh to the hospital. While he was unconscious, Yoh dreamed about why he wants to become Shaman King. When Yoh woke up, Anna was stood in front of the door. Anna is also a shaman with the ability to call the spirits from anywhere, even from heaven. She brought the news to Yoh that his grandmother has decided that she will be Yoh's fiancée. Anna told Yoh that she wants to become the First Lady of shaman king. So, Anna forced Yoh to practice very hard in order to become the shaman king.

One day, Yoh and his friends received the free movie tickets from someone. After the movie, Jun Tao approached Yoh and asked him to give Amidamaru's soul to her brother, Ren. Jun has the ability to control zombie and she brought Lee Pyron's zombie with her.

Lee Pyron is the very famous kung fu movie star, but Tao family murdered him, and they made Pyron became one of their zombie puppet.

Yoh was able to break the cursed away from Pyron's body. However, when Pyron knew the truth that he was already dead, he got mad and determined to take a revenge on Tao family.

Yoh did not want anyone to die, so he decided to protect Jun. With the help of Anna, Yoh was able to calm Pyron down. At the end, Pyron decided to continue being Jun's zombie to accomplish his dream under one condition that Jun cannot use her power to control him.
